Description
Villamartin gives its name to a popular urbanisation in the Orihuela Costa region, considered one of the newest in recent times due to its accelerated and constant growth, being of great interest to a large number of tourists who have decided to settle down and become part of an exquisite multicultural community.
Well known is its central square "Plaza Villamartín" which is built around a plot of land with palm trees that are home to families of ring-necked parrots, very famous in this area. In this square you can find all kinds of amenities and services such as banks, supermarkets, doctor's consultings , cafes, bars and restaurants, which will satisfy all possible individual tastes. It also has other commercial areas, such as "Los Dolses" or "La Fuente", as well as its main street where a multitude of services are located.
In addition, every Saturday morning the La Zenia street market is held in Playa Flamenca, among its stalls you can find a wide variety of local products such as fresh food, household items, clothes, etc., for those who are looking for quality at the best price. For shopping enthusiasts, the Zenia Boulevard shopping centre is a great option to do all your shopping together, as it has more than 150 shops where you can find everything you need.
One of Villamartín's greatest successes is its golf course, La Finca Resort Villamartín Golf Club. With a reputation that precedes it in various parts of Europe, founded in 1972, and designed and built by the Californian architect Mr. Robert Dean Putmann, it has welcomed numerous world-renowned players attracted by its challenging greens. Las Ramblas Golf Club, meanwhile, offers an 18-hole golf course in an incomparable natural setting. Both courses enjoy breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea.
However, golf is not the only sport and leisure attraction to be found in Villamartín; there are many other activities to enjoy with family or friends, such as the "Go-Karts" karting tracks.
The climate of Villamartin is warmer due to its inland location, but due to its proximity to the coast, nearby beaches and coves such as La Zenia or Cabo Roig can be enjoyed at any time of the year.
The geography is moderately undulating with small gently sloping hills, which protect it from the strong winds from the sea in the winter season.
The El Limonar International School, which offers bilingual education, is also located in this area.
In terms of urban transport, Villamartin is very well connected, there are bus services that connect it with other towns such as Cabo Roig or La Zenia, and with cities such as Torrevieja, Alicante or Murcia.
